Stuart McKeen has vast experience in both the federal and provincial government and is familiar with grant programs directed at the entrepreneur and start-up. He has worked at the interface of government, the not-for-profit and private sectors to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship for the past 15 years. Currently, his skills are being utilized on the creation and launch of the VENUS Cybersecurity Corporation in Ottawa, Ontario. The goal of this not-for-profit convergence centre is to foster a vibrant cybersecurity “ecosystem” in Ottawa and across Canada resulting in both new company creation and new jobs. The ultimate goal of VENUS is to make Canada a global leader in cybersecurity. In 2008, Mr. McKeen was awarded the Amethyst Award, the Province of Ontario’s highest employee recognition award, for his pioneering work on seeding and developing large, co-operative, international research and development consortia that have brought jobs and investment to Ontario and Canada.
